At Langeberg & Ashton Foods, we care about people and
the environment. We strive to develop our staff and care for
the communities around us, while ensuring that we leave as
little impact on the environment as possible. Our business
is directly dependent on nature, and it is therefore in our
best interests to preserve the balance of nature as much
as possible. Wherever we can, we encourage those that we
interact with to conserve water, farm responsibly and uplift
their staff. Together, we can build a sustainable tomorrow.
IT STARTS WITH US
In our initiative called “War on Waste” we have detected opportunities where we could dramatically reduce the wastage of tons of fruit, cans, water, electricity, paper, raw materials and more at our factories. As a WOW Ambassador, each person has the power to protect our environment and reduce waste, creating a better and safer environment for all.
IT’S ALL ABOUT
A key focus of our CSI strategy is to alleviate food insecurity – a crisis affecting South Africans, daily. We also encourage educational programmes, assisting education and training institutions in our communities. Finally, we are committed to alleviating poverty by supporting local SME’s and enterprise development.
Langeberg & Ashton Foods supports a community-based Soup Kitchen Project, where we buy dry ingredients, bread and gas for various schools within a 15km radius of our operation. Each school then prepares the soup and bread each day to feed approximately 4,000 children, in 14 schools and crèches. We also provide a crèche situated on our West Factory site, managed by a governing body elected by parents (seasonal and permanent employees). Our crèche cares for our employees’ children from the age of 8 weeks to Grade R.
Our plants conform to the Global Standard for Food Safety – as we are both BRC and IFS Certified. In addition, our factories are audited by Campden BRI in accordance with the principles as described by Codex Alimentarius and defined in the Campden BRI HACCP Auditing Standard.
